September 20 - Day at the Docks: A Celebration of Hatteras Island Watermen, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., Hatteras Village, Outer Banks. Festivities begin on the working waterfront and include the always-popular chowder cook-off contest, cooking demonstrations, net hanging contest, and concrete marlin competition. Exhibits, commercial fishing boats, charter boats and fishing gear will be on display.This event is free and guests are invited to witness the local fishing fleet sail into the harbor for the "Blessing of the Fleet" at 5:30 p.m.
